Stumble Upon: Free and Paid Opportunities to Advertise Your Site

Many have heard of it, millions are using it. StumbleUpon is a faily new social bookmarking site that allows users from around the world to “stumble upon” various websites, rate them with a thumbs up/down, and even review sites they stumble upon on the Internet.
StumbleUpon is a great way to advertise your website for free, and to a targeted audience. Simply download the StumbleUpon toolbar (it is available for both IE and FireFox), and stumble upon your website by giving it the “thumbs up”. From there you can select what category your site fits in, and even write a little review of your site on your own.
This new social bookmarking craze will deliver quality targeted traffic to your site, without an expense. For continuous traffic, it’s recommended that you have something that StumbleUpon users will remember to give the “thumbs up” to. Perhaps have something funny on the page, or just a “thumbs up”icon that works with StumbleUpon will have more and more visitors giving your site the “thumbs up”.
For those webmasters who have some spare cash, I really recommend advertising through StumbleUpon. Using their service as-is for free, I have seen an increase in my traffic and actually gained some active users on my sites. I can only imagine how successful their advertisers become.
Well, have fun stumbling upon the web pages of the Internet! It definitely wouldn’t hurt you to give this site the “thumbs up”. ;]

So you’re basically encouraging people to spam, then.
I’ve reported a lot of web sites as spam through Stumble. On the Stumble Upon toolbar, go to Tools, then Report Last Stumble, then As Spam.

Not sure how you interpreted my article as a promotion to spamming StumbleUpon.
In fact I am promoting the StumbleUpon service and recommending webmasters to advertise through their network.
You aren’t possibly trying to say that webmasters can’t use StumbleUpon because they own some sites they stumble upon, are you? Webmasters are people too. Let’s not forget that.

Yeah, it can be interpreted as spamming a little bit, But, in the end, it’s no good if you’re the only person stumbling your pages. This won’t bring you any traffic.
Good content on the other hand would be stumbled by many people, and if that’s the case, you’ve got yourself a great referral …
