Monetizing Your Domains

July 13th, 2007 by Justice McCay

I have been in need of money a lot lately. Right now I’m struggling to save up money for a new cell phone and service, since Verizon doesn’t like to live up to warranties (my phone broke…has a warranty on it…not even going to rant about it).

Monetize your domains

I thought about parking some of my unused domains the other day. I hardly ever park my domains, mainly because it’s a pain in the ass to go to the diverse registrars my domains are spread across and update each domain’s IP to its parking services’.

If you don’t already know what parking your domain is, it’s when you park (or basically host for free) on another site/server that automatically generates a landing page. Good parking services pay you 50% or more of the revenue made with each domain parked. Revenue is generated mostly by Google AdSense.

Before I went to where I usually go, Sedo [which has not been performing well for me the past year], I went over to NamePros and asked the question: What domain parking service does best for you? I did some research, made a poll, and asked the question; the results are still coming in.

Thankfully researching, doing your homework, and asking questions is very rewarding. I have been learning about a few cool domain parking services that I have never heard of, and have decided to give some out for a try.

I have taken the time to register at NameDrive, Parked.com, and 1Plus.net so far. Being that most of the domain parking services review applications before acceptance, I chose to experiment with 1Plus.net first since it had instant activation.

So far I like what I see and already know the service will work with some of my domain’s niches very well. I can’t wait until I am approved by the other domain parking services to see what they have to offer. Man though, in comparison to Sedo 1Plus.net is the total bomb! =]

Anyway, if you have a few domains to spare [or that you aren't doing anything with], I highly suggest parking them. Do some research on some good domain parking services, and definitely experiment with different ones (if not all). The results will vary differently (some for good, and some for bad) for each domain and niche.

Good luck monetizing some of your domains. =] Check out my thread at NamePros if you need any ideas for good parking services.
